Coming to Therapy

Many people come to therapy to learn more about themselves, or for extra support or help with something that's bothering them. And some are seeking a deeper level of healing and resolution.

With a skilled listener and some new ideas, clients can often find their way to a more satisfying path through life. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, sad, anxious, angry or stuck somewhere in your life, therapy can help.

As a therapist, I start by listening carefully to what you're looking for. Therapy is a collaboration: you're the expert on you, and I bring years of experience and advanced training to our work.

Whatever may bring you to therapy, you are welcome here!

Couple therapy works!

Feel stuck in a pattern you can't get out of? Couple therapy can help!

When things are going well, relationships can be the source of some of our greatest joys! We feel secure, connected and safe with each other. Nothing feels better.

But when things aren’t going well, those great feelings can turn into pain and anger. Partners may get discouraged and even feel hopeless.

Perhaps you’re feeling disconnected and wondering where the closeness went, or maybe there’s been a loss of trust, or stress from a major event or transition in your lives.
In Couple Therapy you can:
  • Become closer and find hope for a future together.
  • Restore trust and heal hurts.
  • Learn to communicate better and take home new ways to interact.
  • Learn to manage anger and conflict productively.

Like many other couples, you can find your way to a safe, rewarding and secure relationship!

Advanced training

As a couple therapist with over 20 years of experience, I have advanced training in  Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an approach based on attachment, the importance of emotion, and human systems theory (how our relationships interconnect with our mental and emotional health.)

EFT is a solid research-based approach with positive results for most couples, and progress that lasts even after therapy is done.

EFT can help work through difficult issues like infidelity, abandonment, loss of trust, intimacy issues and more.

Couples of all kinds are welcome.

Individual Adults

Therapy is a collaboration: you're the expert on you, and I bring years of experience and advanced training to our work together.

This collaborative approach presumes clients are equal and active participants in therapy, and together we'll determine the path forward.

My approach is eclectic and client-focused, and informed by attachment and human systems theory, mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy, along with creative and metaphorical strategies.

I've found it's valuable to work from a whole brain approach, accessing both creative and analytical resources for growth and healing. My larger values are humanistic, egalitarian and affirming.

My clients have described me as being supportive, wise, gentle and insightful, but I can also be direct  and challenging when helpful.

Adult Family Members

Are you feeling discouraged or upset in your relationship with an adult family member?

Struggles, conflict, misunderstandings and problems between adults can often be sorted out with the guidance of a neutral therapist.

Whether it’s between adult child and parent, adult siblings, in-laws or other relationships, therapy can help you redefine and improve your relationship.

This can be a place to address difficult issues, learn new ways to solve conflicts, or create healthier communication patterns with each other.
Let's talk about your needs: contact me here.
